Re: ESXi 5.x on new Apple Mac Mini 6,2 Late 2012 *NOT* working

I have tried now to boot from the installation .dmg file by connecting it to the VM's virtual CD-ROM. This is how I installed this OS X VM to begin with. My thinking was that if I boot with the installation "DVD", I can then try to repair the OS X partition on the virtual disk and perhaps be able to boot into OS X. However, after I booted into the installation DVD, my ESXi host crashed again. So, at this point, I don't think Bluetooth per se had anything to do with this. I'm now beginning to wonder if my ESXi host crashes every time I try to boot into OS X because there's some corruption with the ESXi itself. The reason I think that is the fact that the ESXi host crashed even when I tried to boot from the intsallation DVD. Additionally, as I mentioned before, the 00:1d.0 USB Controller does not get enabled for Direct Path I/O even after I select the checkbox (see the warning that I need to reboot the ESXi host) and then reboot the ESXi host. So, it looks like something related to the Direct Path I/O of this USB controller (00:1d.0) is corrupted.

If this is the case, it's good news for me because as soon as I restore the ESXi installation back to normal, my OS X VM should be able to boot - at least that's my hope.

Can I try to reinstall ESXi 5.1 with SMC over the existing installation while preserving the VMs located on the same volume where ESXi is installed? Are the configuration settings of the current ESXi installation going to be preserved? Is there a chance that such a reinstallation will fix whatever is corrupted in my current ESXi?

Thanks.
